Alina Tello-Cordon, LICSW

they/them

I work with individuals, age 13 and older.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Washington. I pursued Social Work as a calling because a high school social worker helped me through my own process of coming out as a Queer Latinx youth and starting me on my journey of healing and self-love. I received my Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Social Work and my Master's Degree in Social Work with a certificate in Child Welfare from Florida Atlantic University. I have a certification in Kink Conscious Therapy from the International Institute of Clinical Sexology.

My Story

I believe that for many folx, especially those who identify as LGBTQIA+ or QTBIPOC, life has revolved around survival. I see therapy as a powerful tool to process the impact and the power of society's expectations of you and to move beyond these expectations to live and love yourself as an authentic individual. Exploring your experience and trauma are courageous steps in moving from surviving to thriving.

Working with Me

I discovered my calling to be a social worker through my own experience of trauma and oppression. My commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and abolition is rooted in dismantling systems of oppression and embodying healing through solidarity, accountability, and decolonization. My approach to therapy is QTBIPOC affirmative, intersectional, feminist, kink positive, sex-positive, fat positive, and grounded in a social justice lens.

In working together, I center you, the client, and your experience as the expert in your life. I will help you to see your strengths and resiliencies, and I will work collaboratively with you to help you be authentically seen and heard.  With recognition of the privilege and oppression experienced by folx based on their intersecting identities, I will help you to examine, deconstruct, and transform through these experiences.

I am passionate about helping BIPOC clients, LGBTQIAP+ clients, and QTBIPOC clients in particular. I have a special place in my heart for supporting trans/nonbinary adults and youth. I also deeply enjoy working with individuals around Kink/BDSM, polyamory, nonmonogamy, neuroatypical identities and creativity/artistic expression.

On a Personal Note

I am a Latinx immigrant from Guatemala. I identify as Queer and Non-binary.  I am a survivor of trauma who has struggled with depression, anxiety, chronic illness and self-love due to my intersecting identities being at odds with the White Supremacist, heteronormative, patriarchal, ableist and colonized society that we live in. My journey of healing and growth is ongoing and includes therapy, creative expression, movement, education, advocacy, spirituality and honoring my ancestors.

In my personal life, I enjoy nurturing myself and my loved ones by cooking and eating together. I find joy in writing music, gardening, being in nature and spending time with my partner and cats, Stella and Athena.
